For The Longest Time, i have used Microsoft Paint for my pixel art but can be used a lot more than that
but unfortunately, MS Paint had/has nasty rap on the internet
often being used as a slur when acquainting to "bad art" or "zero skill"
but like any other blank canvas tool, it can make amazing things (ie google it), or a better example r/place glorified ms paint canvas although with limited colors
but more than that ms paint can accomplish some things that some more advanced tools can't...
